Keeping up to par with Devin

So...Devin left Sunday and stayed in Salt Lake that night. He had to wake up at 4am on Monday morning to go to the Military Entrance Processing Station to get a mini physical, swear in, and complete paperwork. He then left to go to the Salt Lake Airport where he caught his first flight at 12:55 and landed in Chicago at 4:50ish (Chicago time) and then left Chicago at 7:40 to land in Louisville, Kentucky at 9:50pm. He got to the base and was excited for bed, but he didn't get to go to bed!!! They briefed them and made their beds and then the sergeant made them clean the barracks before they went to sleep. They ended up getting in bed at about 2:30am, but then another group came in at about 3am and they had to get out of bed to help them make their beds and clean the barracks. By the time they finished... it was time to get up and get ready for the day. He got his head shaved, which he loves and has been so excited for, but he says he looks ridiculous. haha. Today, Tuesday he got his uniform and he gets his dog tags :) He officially starts Friday because the first couple of days are called reception..all the exams and uniform fittings and classes go on during this period..then all the push ups and running and exercises start. Drill sergeants have been yelling since he got there. Look what he signed up for :) ...it'll be good and I'm proud.

He's on his way...

Devin left yesterday .... As I put on facebook: Yeah, my hubby is gone, but it'll be ok :) I do already miss him though..he's the greatest husband ever and I'm proud he has decided to serve our country...i'll be by him every step of the way ... and i will ...he is awesome. I figure if it took him a year to convince me to join, it's something he really wants...we couldn't have a better soldier... we want those who serve to WANT to serve... and that's Devin. :)

Our Last Week Together as Civilians

So our last week.....
some of it we ended up sick...yes both of us.. but we still had an absolutely wonderful week. Monday and Tuesday = sick. Wednesday we attempted to go to Seven Peaks here in Provo, but it was closed to the public! So we drove around a little bit and decided to go to Bridal Veil Falls...we went to get wet, but when we dipped our feet in it was FreeZing!!!!! So we walked for a little bit and barely started climbing the waterfall then ended up takin off. We then decided to go to Veteran's Memorial pool...we tanned (not that we got very tan, but we tried to reduce our marshmallow white look haha), swam around and dunked each other, and went down slides together. It was really fun! Then we went to the store to get some dinner...we got lasagna, but didn't read directions...we got home at like 6:30 and we were pretty hungry...pulled out the lasagna and read that we had to cook it for 2 hours! yikes! hah....so we cooked it for an hour and then ended up cutting pieces out to eat and microwaving them :) ...it worked well.
Thursday, getting closer and closer to the day he leaves (AH!), trying to remember what we did.... We met with the sergeant in charge of the recruiting station to make sure my hubby was ready to go. Then we ate at Coney's ... and went to go see Despicable Me!! I LOVED that movie SOOO much!! Devin says i'm like the smallest one...Agnes. haha.He couldn't get over how similar we seemed hhaahaha. After the movie we went to Farr's Fresh Yogurt and then headed up to Sundance to see if we could ride the lift, but we only had 5 minutes left to go so we decided to come back Friday, but we definitely enjoyed walking around and looking at beautiful nature.
Friday we went back to Sundance http://www.sundanceresort.com/  in the morning and went on the lift up to the top of a mountain .... we got there and started hiking to the waterfall...about halfway we turned around haha (you have to remember we were getting over sicknesses and at this time) ... went back down the lift ... left Sundance and decided to go Costco to get another camera so Devin could take mine to Basic Combat Training. I love pictures and if he has a chance I'm hoping he'll take some!! We also visited CupcakeChic that day...they have awesome cupcakes!!!!! Went home ate lunch and then got ready for Seven Peaks!! finally! except the rain was coming...but luckily the sun was out for a little while when we were there. We ended up getting free dinner out of it and took off right when the storm really hit! :) Went home ate dinner and watched Cars, such a good movie.

Saturday Devin had to go to a future soldier training for land navigation. The recruiters put together events like that so our future soldiers are ready for it during Basic Training. He said it was good, but the Sergeant decided at the end that they needed to do as many push ups as they could in the amount of time it took him to do 101 push ups! Devin got to 60 and said I'm done ..this really isn't necessary. hahha. I love my husband. We went and visited a friend and then came home... skyped with my in-laws, went to the store, came home and I made him watch a chick flick with me :) (he liked it) ... How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days...
then it was Sunday.... time for my honey to leave...we packed up all of his stuff and off he went .....

flights and sickness... not related in the way they sound

Soooo.... I'm trying to find a one way flight to Georgia in November, but it's not an easy task. I thought it would be simple, but it's not....especially when you're coordinating it with someone else. Now, if I had an unlimited amount of money and wanted to pay 600 dollars for a flight, then I suppose it would be a lot easier. haha. Right now I am beginning to understand the job of personal assistants and travel agents that have to plan accordingly. :) I don't envy their positions at this point in time...well, maybe if I had super awesome pay and was doing it, but on free time, that's a completely different story.

And unfortunately, Devin is feeling quite ill...so while I sit here typing, he is laying on the couch...poor guy. We are going to Seven Peaks today to play, but I don't know how much fun he will have if he is feeling like this. :( and it's his last week here in Provo, UT....we will probably come visit again, but who knows when. I am dreading the day he leaves, but he is so excited to begin his new career...so that makes it somewhat more bearable. I hope he gets to feeling better! ...it would be bad to be sick when beginning basic combat training for the military.

New to this Blogging thing

Hmmm...well I'm trying to figure all of this out... "it's a whole new world" here. So, it'll take me some time, but I'm excited to have it figured out. I am sooo grateful for technology that helps you stay in touch with people and it's neat you can have a little online journal.
